Some deck theme advice

 

“Common and Noteworthy” Deck themes

If you have trouble deciding what kind of theme you would like. Get a feel and just try the latest, coolest monsters. I took out all the unpopular types like Plants and Insects as it’s not fun to summon a monster that looks hideous. This is not meant to be special or anything big, it’s just that I found a lot of people and in my team especially have found choosing a theme very difficult. I had a one hour chat with each and we solved most of the problems by going to http://entertainment.upperdeck.com/yugioh/en/default.aspx and checking out some Structure Decks to get them started and then I boosted their very poor knowledge of boosters once again on the same official site (http://yugioh-card.com). Once you’ve checked out most of theme and had a look at the tins and read the over exaggerated talk about these so called cards… then you can go buy them. One more word of advice, never depend on just your one-last combo. Like trying to draw just one “Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon” in a deck of 60, having about 6 strong Tribute monsters works for me great! http://yugioh.wikia.com is another great site to find cards. Nevertheless, check out the “Some Great Staples” list at the end of this.

 

·         Classic Dragon

Sub: Blue-Eyes theme, Red-Eyes theme

·         Spellcaster-Refer to Structure Deck 6: Spellcaster’s Judgement. It sounds lame to say, but majority of Yugi’s strongest monsters are indeed Spellcasters such as e.g. Magician of Black Chaos, Dark Magician, Dark Magician Girl, Dark Paladin and Sorcerer of Black Chaos

·         Zombie-Refer to Structure Deck 2: Zombie Madness

·         Dragon Slayer (Warrior): Buster Blader and Equip Spells and Normal Spells to speed draw and summon monsters with abilities unique to slaying Dragons. Buster Blader gains a 500 ATK boost for each Dragon-Type monster on your opponent’s field and Graveyard; adding to its already massive 2600

·         Warrior-Just old warriors with a strong head like Gilford. Nothing special

Sub: Six Samurais

·         Beast/ Winged Beast “Stealth Bird“, “Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys“, “Simorgh, Bird of Divinity“, “Raiza the Storm Monarch“, and “Simorgh, Bird of Ancestry“.

Sub: Harpie Ladies

·         Fiends

Sub: ArchFiend/Dark World theme

·         Fairy

Sub: Lightsworn etc.

·         Fish

·         Sea Serpent

·         Machine, a very popular class. Strong machine combos and fusions will totally dominate your opponent. Cards like Cyber Dragon, Valkryion, and the V-Z Machine Union Fusions used by Chazz

Sub: Ancient Gear monsters used by Professor Chronos

·         Thunder

·         Aqua

·         Pyro-take a look at Axel Brodie’s deck or refer to Structure Deck 3: Blaze of Destruction

·         LV deck theme (Strongest cards: Armed Dragon LV10, Horus the Black Flame Swordsman and Silent Swordsman 7. Easily summon them or speed up the evolution with “Level Up!”, “Level Modulation” and “Graveyard in the Fourth Dimension”
